Ken Griffey jr pulled the same type of knucklehead move. In 2011 he came back to SEA and had a decent season - for a non-juiced 40 year old - something like 20 hrs. After the final game the rest of the team carried him on their shoulders around the warning track of Safeco to thunderous applause. A perfect send off into a hall of fame sports retirement. But NOOOO! He comes back the next year and it was a complete disaster ending with him running away crying that no one respected him, a complete club house cancer...all because he overstayed his time.

They don't know when to call it a career.

The Dead didn't even know when to take a vacation - like after Jerry almost died in '86, after Brent died, or after Jerry got sick in '92. They should have followed the Stones model and only toured every few years. We might still be seeing real shows.

I guess if I hadn't seen the GD shows I did I'd want them to keep on playing until they dropped (which of course Bob just did).

I'm just spoiled - that and 75$ is a bit steep for a cover band that I once paid $7.50 to see before they became a cover band. For $75 I want something that will blow my mind, not something mildly entertaining. The 25$ I spent to see DSO seemed too high after the event - mildly entertaining at best. Better to just see hungry bar bands.
